Central Sign On is an account management server that stores all of a website's user account data, providing users with a central online profile and letting website operators expose data with a REST web API.
For Website Operators, Central Sign On:
- Makes it easy to add user account management, with all of the usual features, like email verification, CAPTCHAs and personal profile information.
- Quickly adds single sign on with OpenID.
- Exposes some, or all, of user profile data to the Web, under the user's control.
- Improves the quality of profile information, especially when users choose to link different accounts into a single profile.
For user's, Central Sign On:
- Allows user's to link profiles together, so they only have to change personal information once.
- Offers access to data for use in other programs and mash-ups. Set access to control what other people and programs see.
The Central Sign On server is an Open Source program that will be integrated into a variety of commercial and Open Source applications.
Central Sign On stores and provides web API interfaces for:
- Personal information such as name, age, gender
- Contact information such as web sites, postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses
- Affiliations with clubs, employers and other organizations.
- Links to user created content like photographs and blog entries
